The News landing page
The news landing page is called “news”: you can manage that page and the header image.
News details
- Title: make this clear and short
- Excerpt: this text is used in news list views. Make it a clear short summary.
- Highlight: Highlighted news may appear on the home page, or the sidebar, based on how old it is.
- Description: Fill this out for SEO, if you like. It’s optional.
- Categories: assign one or many categories as desired.
Best practices
- Do not delete old news. News articles get indexed and linked from external sites and search engines. It’s best to update a news post, editorially.
- Do not add a date to the news title. You can, but it’s not a best practice. It’s better to editorially update the article, perhaps at the beginning (“Updated: 10/23/2021”). Then update the article publish date, if you like.
